In addition to our preschool and elementary school camps, Darabos utca is not left out in the summer! This year the theme of the camps is America! Our teachers always try to come up with a camp topic that, in addition to improving their English language level and broadening their knowledge, is fun and suitable for their age group and interests. In today's world, with the widespread use of social media, popular pastimes after school, before English, are central to the lives of our teenagers: it's cool to go to Starbucks, eat at Meki, go shopping. The teen camp on Darabos is organized along these lines.
How can you imagine this?
Our Darabos utca language school awaits its students in a renovated state. On the first morning, we usually start the day with a get-to-know-you bingo, everyone has to go to everyone else and have a good chat. The formation of the groups also takes place at this time, as our teachers organize their groups for the whole week based on the age and level of the children.
This year there will be 3 groups: led by Virág, Gergő and Majd. Our already well-known teachers will be with the children. It is a huge advantage that all three of them graduated from university with an English major, which not only means that they are super teachers, but also that they have a wide knowledge of English and American culture, society, history and everyday life, and they can't wait to pass on the knowledge to their students. finest details.
The whole morning's English lessons may sound scary at first, but at our place they will be full of lots of games, kahoots, movie excerpts, and lots of English speaking. In general, the 4x45-minute classes are held as 2x 90-minute classes, with a ten-hour break in between. Our classes are focused on communication and practice, we consider it important that our students acquire useful knowledge even in one week, which they can use in the future.
The great thirst for knowledge also comes with a great appetite, so while the ten o'clock and snack are served locally, we usually have lunch at the Fandango restaurant, where everyone can choose what they want to eat.
After lunch, we go back to the language school, collect our backpacks and don't relax, we set off on that day's adventure. As with preschool and elementary school children, we also organize a program for every day. This year, among other things, our plans include a McDonalds store tour, an American nook, an escape room, or an American football or cheerleaders show.
On the last day of the camp, we will have a real American home cinema experience. After lunch, we stay at the language school and watch a movie together in English with plenty of popcorn and soft drinks. It is one of the favorite programs of teenagers, as you can relax, have a snack and hang out together.
All in all, an adventurous and exciting camp awaits you in a learning environment where students can playfully acquire practical knowledge, touching on topics that are also interesting and fun for them.
